4 out of 5

I honestly don’t know if I have the right words for this book other than it was bloody fantastic. I have really enjoyed reading this one, yes it was a MC book, BUT it seemed to have so much more than some of the MC books around lately. This book had funny one liners, fantastic characters, angst and yes a few tears as well. Roam is a typical MC bad boy but when he says “sugar” in that southern drawl women within a 2 mile radius swoon. Lacey is pretty kick ass too although at times I did think she needed to grow a spine and start throwing some punches around. All in all I would definitely recommend this book it is well worth the read, I would also say 4 out of 5 as it did seem to be over quick as it could have been longer. The sex is soooo hot too it made me have to fan myself several times. Just the way I like it.

3.5 out of 5

Kasey’s Cowboys Down Under series sold me on her writing so of course I was motivated to read a biker romance from her. And Fighting to Stay is well written, but I just couldn’t get attached the characters. I did not like Lacey. In my opinion, she was selfish and immature. She made rash decisions and put her best friend in a precarious position with her man. I also never felt like she really had strong emotions for Roam. She went from in lust and determined to run at the first sign of hurt to in love and there wasn’t enough between these two emotions in the storyline for me to get behind her. As I type this it has occurred to me that my real hang up with this book is it felt rushed. It’s not a long read at all. I read it in less than 3 hours. I need more of a build up or for something to happen that pulls me in and makes me feel some connection with the story and I never got that. I think if this book was longer and had more of that intangible “thing” to suck me in, I would have enjoyed this more. Kasey Millstead is a good writer and it was a good story, but for me it wasn’t a great story. This will not sway me in pursuing future books by Kasey Millstead and for some of you this will be a great story.

Kasey Millstead lives a quiet life in country New South Wales, Australia, with her husband and their four young children. She enjoys baking, singing (ridiculously out of tune) & spending time with friends and family. Kasey has always harboured a deep love for reading and writing, and she is now lucky enough to be living her dream of being an Author.

Mandy’s Rating 4 out of 5

After reading the second book in the Cowboys Down Under series, Sky Cowboy, I can confidently say that Kasey Millstead has made me squirm, again, with her cowboys and their hotness. Sky Cowboy is Jeremy’s story. Jeremy being the twin brother to the first cowboy from down under to make me squirm.

Jeremy and Ava’s story was just as well written as the first book in the series and the sexy times are possibly hotter than first book. Jeremy and Ava have grown up together and have been the victims of miscommunications and a bitchy jealous sister. A good deal of the book is spent catching us up on the missed moments and the heartbreak that Ava has dealt with over the years. And while I usually would be yelling, “Get on with the story! I need my happily ever after!” I was too involved in my reading to take any time to get upset.

I said it before, in my review of Cowboy Town, Kasey writes real people. The entire “world” that she’s created in her Cowboys Down Under series is relatable and it’s hard to find anything to criticize. I honestly don’t have anything negative to say.  I can honestly say that everyone should read Sky Cowboy, but only after reading Cowboy Town. They are sweet, and steamy with a dose of comedy.  Natural dialogue and a great pace. They’re the perfect light hearted romances to lift your spirits and leave you grinning.

“Hey, Jeremy,” I slur.  The alcohol was definitely bringing out my inner bravado.
“Hey Ava.” He smiles at me and I melt.  I feel like I could slide right off the stool and pool on the floor in a big
alcoholic puddle.  “What’s going on?” He says nodding towards the Patron.
“Nothing much.” I slur again and then use my fingers to shove my tongue back in my mouth and wipe away any escaping drool at the same time.
“Want some company?”  He grins cheekily and all I can do is stare at his mouth; hypnotized.  I’m pretty sure my tongue is hanging out but I can’t do anything about it.  My reflexes are too slow and besides, Jeremy is just too delicious.
He chuckles, snapping me out of my reverie, and slides onto the stool beside me.
As we finish off the bottle of tequila together, we start to flirt.  Harmlessly at first, but then things start getting heated. I shift in my seat as he blows in my ear and whispers something that I can’t make out.  It doesn’t matter
though, it’s still hot as hell.
“I need to pee,” I slur.  Wobbling as I stand, I make my way slowly outside, towards the ladies room.  Once there, I use the facilities and try to give myself a pep talk.  I need to calm down.  Focus. Sober up a bit so I can enjoy Jeremy and actually remember having this time with him in the morning.  I wash my hands and walk out, running smack bang into a hard wall of warm solidness.
“Sorry,” I giggle before looking up into the hypnotizing clear blue eyes of Jeremy. He grips me around the waist and pushes me back into the wall.  His hand travels down my leg, pausing at my knee to lift up.  Automatically, I curl my limb around his waist.  He leans in and I smell his sweet, warm, alcohol induced breath as it mingles with mine for a split second before he touches his lips to mine.  I moan involuntarily and then gasp as he grinds his hardness against my softness. His tongue sweeps in and teases mine in an erotic dance.  My hands dive into his soft chocolate brown hair and I grip and tug causing a deep groan to rise from his throat.
“Get a room, Henley,” a voice calls as they walk by.  I immediately drop my leg and push him back slightly.  We’re bothpanting heavily.  I try my hardest to focus.  I’m so turned on its unbelievable.  I would have let him take my virginity right then and there if we hadn’t been interrupted.  But, we were. I take a deep breath and stumble back inside ignoring him calling my name.

Will Ava and Jeremy be able
to overcome the pain of the past and give their love a chance? Or, will Ava
lose her life just as she’s starting to live her dream?

* I’m 29 years old

* I’ve been married to my husband Troy for 10 years and together we have 4 children – Zach, Jovi, Demi & Cruz.

* I live in a small country town in NSW, Australia

* I LOVE to read and write

* I LOVE to bake

* I LOVE socializing

* My friends laugh at me because I will talk to anyone, anywhere.  It’s funny now but it wasn’t so funny for my mum when she had to drag me away from strange homeless people at the train station when I was little, and I may or may not have been going to go in crop dusting plane with a man I’d just met when I was about 4!!

* I read fiction until I was 11 years old.  After that I read non-fiction, true crime, bio’s etc.  When my son Jovi drowned in 2011, I found I couldn’t bring myself to read non fiction anymore – it was too “real”.  Fifty Shades was dominating the media so I got myself a copy and I’m not ashamed to say I read all three of those books at least ten times each.  They allowed me to forget my reality for a little while.  Then I decided that I was going to follow my dreams and write.  I wanted to show my children that just because their brother died, didn’t mean they did or our family did.  I want them to reach for the stars and chase their dreams, and the best way to do that is to lead by example!
