Do I even need to write a review for this? Book 3 in the The Redhead Series is just a funny, sexy, witty, and fantastic as the first two books were. I expected nothing less from funny girl, Alice Clayton. Between the Redhead series and Wallbanger, you can keep yourself laughing and fanning yourself for days.

And that is the beauty of Alice Clayton. Take this quote from, The Redhead Plays Her Hand: “I took him into my mouth entirely, the words he uttered through clenched teeth were equal parts obscene and nonsensical. Nice to know I hadn’t lost my touch.” Her writing is the perfect blend of sexy and erotic mixed with hilarious characters that are so real, I feel like I’ve known them forever.

And I am not blowing smoke. You should know by now that I don’t deal in bullshit. Alice Clayton is a damn fine writer. And she makes me laugh. I don’t know if this is the last we will see of Jack and Grace. I certainly wouldn’t scoff at more, but if this was it; then kudos Ms. Clayton on a fantastic series. I love how the redhead played her hand!

The third sexy novel in USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton’s playful and erotic Redhead series continues the sizzling romance between actress Grace Sheridan and Hollywood’s hottest leading man Jack Hamilton.

Grace has landed the lead in a new TV series—but when the director asks her to lose fifteen pounds, she goes public with her weight struggles and suddenly develops a huge fan club who support her right to have curves. But between that and the public’s continuing fascination with her “are they or aren’t they” relationship with Jack, Grace begins to wonder if anyone’s really interested in her because of her upcoming TV series, or if it’s all speculation about the size of her ass and her bedroom partner.

Meanwhile, Jack is voted the Sexiest Man Alive and becomes a little too enamored with the party-hard lifestyle. Grace vows to give him the space he needs to find himself, but then he begins to spiral down from lovable Brit to Hollywood brat. People are talking, but are Jack and Grace? Her career is on the rise, and his continues into the stratosphere, but will she be able to catch him if he falls? Will they ever be able to just be a couple who can hold hands when they walk down the street?

Raw Books was really looking forward to sharing our reviews with you during our stop on the blog tour. However, we were never provided with the ARC. The tour host told us that it was out of their hands and up to the publisher. The publisher never had the decency to respond to our emails. So there will be no review from us. We feel really bad  about the whole thing, but we did what we could and had zero success at getting assistance. I can’t conjure up a book before it releases. We in no way hold this against the author and truly recommend her work.

Synopsisbutton

In this thrilling and sexy follow-up to Sempre, two young lovers struggle to keep their relationship intact after they become deeply enmeshed in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring they once tried to overthrow.

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco have been through a lot. Haven was taken in by Carmine’s father, and with his family’s help, she escaped a gruesome fate. However, saving Haven from the dark intentions of a mafia family cost Carmine a steep price: he was forced to swear loyalty to them.

Now, still passionately in love, Carmine and Haven must face the fall-out of Carmine’s forced service, as Haven discovers terrifying secrets about the family that enslaved both her and her mother—and why she matters so much in this intricate web of lies.

excerpt

Carmine sat in his usual chair in the library, casually strumming his guitar. A sliver of light filtered in from the large window, illuminating his somber expression in the darkness. She called his name but he remained still, continuing to pluck at the strings almost as if he hadn’t heard her. She took a step toward him and was about to say his name again when he let out a long, deep sigh. “I had a dream.”

“Another nightmare?” she asked, walking over to him. He glanced up at her as his fingers stilled, the music stopping, but Haven barely noticed. She couldn’t focus on anything but the green eyes boring into her. Once so alive with passion, she saw nothing but deep sadness marring the bright color.

Carmine set the guitar aside and moved his legs to make room, motioning for her to join him. She climbed into his lap and he wrapped his arms around her.

“Not a nightmare this time,” he said. “It was a good dream.”

“What was it about?”

“You,” he said quietly. “You made a painting—some abstract shit, I don’t know—but it was so good they hung it in a museum and raved about how talented you were. It was like you were the next fucking Picasso, tesoro.”

She laughed. “I don’t even know how to paint, Carmine.”

“You could learn,” he said. “Would you want to?”

“Maybe, but I don’t know how good I’d be.”

“Oh, you’d be good,” he said confidently. “You shouldn’t doubt yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to.”

“Except for play the piano,” she said playfully. “Or the guitar.”

He chuckled. “Yeah, for the sake of everyone’s ears, we ought to leave music to me, but the rest is all you. You can probably do all of that, you know. Draw, paint, sculpt shit into weird shapes and tell people it’s something it doesn’t look anything like. That takes talent.”

She smiled. “And you think I have that kind of talent?”

“Of course,” he said. “There’s gonna be no stopping you once you get started.”

“Thank you,” she whispered, a swell of emotion surging through her at his words. “It means a lot that you believe in me.”

“I’d be an idiot not to,” he said, kissing the top of her head.

He smelled so damn good, clean with a hint of masculine sweat, a temptation I couldn’t resist.  Beyond my control, my tongue darted out of my mouth and covertly tasted the section of chest exposed above his tank.  Oh God, he tasted even better than he smelled, like a chocolate-covered pretzel—sweet, salty, and addictive.

“Did you just…lick me?” he asked, sounding both shocked and amused.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“You licked me.  I felt it,” he accused, but I noticed he wasn’t complaining.

“Your imagination is running wild because of all the workout endorphins.”

“It wasn’t a complaint.  In fact, you’re welcome to have another taste.”

“Fine…I licked you.  But it was an involuntary reflex—hot guy, exposed chest…you know how it is.”

“Mmm,” he replied, his eyes darkening with lust.  “I am familiar with the temptation, but it’s not a hot guy who’s testing my self-control…it’s a petite, auburn-haired vixen.”

Pieces For You floored me.  I was really looking forward to reading this after Only For You because Sam’s character was so full of lie and I was very invested in her after the attack, and I knew I wanted her to get her HEA (click here for mine and Mandy’s reviews).  Griffin was also introduced and he made my heart speed up a little.

I got so much more than I was expecting.  I’ve read other stories with rape victims, and more often than not, the “incident” is brushed over and the girl is magically cured and moves on as if nothing happened.  Genna Rulon wrapped her arms around the subject and put me inside Sam’s head and dragged me along through the roller coaster of her healing process.  I cried…I never cry.  Never.  I desperately wanted to take Sam’s pain away.  I was fully invested through every step forward and back she took.

Griffin, sigh, he’s so wonderful.  I want a man like Griffin.  He knew exactly what Sam needed every step of the way to help her through.  He pushed her forward when needed, and stood back ready to catch her if she faltered.

Aside from all of the above, the story was overall well done.  It would have been easy to rely only on the rape and recovery as the only basis for the story, but there was much more involved, but I won’t spoil anything.  This is definitely a must read for anyone!

One last thing:  Rape is a very serious and delicate subject and I applaud Genna Rulon for her skill in the telling of Sam’s story.  To add one more reason to go out and buy this immediately, Genna notates in her acknowledgements that part of the proceeds will go to RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network).  If you would like to learn more or show your support: www.rainn.org.

The prologue of this book actually made mean old me tear up. I identified with Sam on so many levels in this book. Her pain and her strength were awe inspiring. Genna Rulon did a phenomenal job at capturing  the emotions and the healing process. She surreptitiously gave a lot of fantastic and absolutely true information about rape survivors, their feelings, and how it effects not only the survivor, but their loved ones as well.

But don’t think this book is morose and sad. It’s not. It’s about healing and falling in love. It’s about the bonds of friendship. And it’s just as witty and fun as Only For You. With a heaping pile of deep emotions and a beautiful and overdue love story.

Sam’s coolness was solidified in Only For You and once she gets her healing on in Pieces For You, she is back and just as fun and awesome as before. But better because she has Griffin. And Griffin is definitely her other half. Griffin is perfect. I honestly can’t think of a negative thing to say about him. I was already swooning for him by 19% in, but then at 20% Genna gives us the first bit from Griffin’s point of view and if he wasn’t the perfect partner for Sam, I would fight and cut a bitch for him. He’s that yummy.

Pieces For You is stellar. A must read. Not a single complaint. Well written, great characters, well paced, interesting plot. Hot sexy times. It truly has it all. Go read it!!!! NOW!!

I was waiting for Griff to exit the men’s locker room when a gym rat approached me from behind, nearly causing me to wet my pants when I discovered his body within inches of mine.  He leaned against the wall next to me with his arm resting above my head.  I felt caged and uneasy.

“Hey sexy, haven’t seen you here before.  Need me to show you how it’s done?  I know the manager—I can hook you up with a free month…in exchange for dinner?”

I was about to—I didn’t know what—run, scream, panic, tell him I wasn’t interested in his ‘free month’ if he was the last man on earth.  Then I heard it—a growl.  A deep menacing growl was coming from behind me, about a foot and a half above my head.  I slapped my hand over my mouth to stifle my snicker.

I couldn’t see Griffin and he didn’t say a word, but whatever his body language communicated, the dumbass in front of me clearly got the message because he turned tail and left, practically running.

I spun, hoping to catch a glimpse of ‘scary Griffin,’ but his face was devoid of all emotions, his eyes tracking my visitor’s departure.

“Excuse me,” I said to capture his attention.  “Did I just hear you growl at that moron, or am I hallucinating now, too?”

“I didn’t growl, it was a deep exhale.”

“Oh, an audible exhale that reverberated in your chest…like a growl,” I said before dissolving into giggles.

“I love that sound—you laughing.”

“Should I start calling you ‘Tony the Tiger’ now?  Wait…how about ‘Harry the Hippo’?”

“Hippos do not growl.”

“They absolutely do!  I took a zoology class for my science requirement sophomore year, and hippopotamuses, my growly friend, most definitely growl.”

“If I growled—and I admit nothing—but if I did, it was not a damn hippopotamus growl.  It was a tiger growl…no, a bear…I want to be a bear.”

“Alright, Yogi it is.  Come on, my furry friend, you promised me dinner.”

“Despite your torment, I do keep my promises.  Let’s go.”

“Do you have the picnic baskets in the car?” I teased, enjoying watching him squirm.

“No picnic baskets, I’m afraid.”

“Oh, is Boo-Boo bringing them?”

In a classic male move, he grabbed the bottom of his tank and lifted it to wipe the dampness from his face.  My ravenous eyes snapped to his stomach.  I was greeted by one, two, three…eight, eight perfectly chiseled abdominal muscles.  The elusive eight-pack—I had heard rumors of its existence, seen pictures even, but I’d never encountered the phenomenon in person.  I reached up and pinched my arm to ensure I was not dreaming.  Ouch!  Nope, not dreaming.  My fingertips itched to touch him, to trace each and every line and crevice—suddenly a black wall of cotton obstructed my view.  Son of a bitch, it was criminal.  The man should not be allowed to wear a shirt…ever.

5 obviously.

This third book wasn’t initially planned, but readers wanted more of our dear Professor and Sylvain Reynard (SR) delivered.  I was totally okay with Gabriel’s Rapture being the end, but then I started reading Gabriel’s Redemption. First off, I had forgotten how much I love Professor Emerson, and second, I didn’t realize how many things were left unexplored by the previous 2 books.

But Redemption explores so many avenues and covers so many things that I was giddy to experience with Gabriel and Julianne. I devoured this book. Seriously. I did the bare minimum around my house to keep the Little Rockers alive and entertained. This book is so well written that I was transported away from my suburban world and I feel like I lived it all with the characters.

Katherine Picton is perhaps my favorite character, aside from the Professor, of course. That woman has steel balls and a wonderful mind.  What a treasure to call friend for Julianne and Gabriel. I am also seeing Paul in a different light with this book, and I may have a soft spot in my heart for him. Gabriel and Julianne’s families make me envious for a family that dedicated to each other.

After all of the heartache that was endured with Julianne and Gabriel’s courtship and pasts, this book was a wonderful look at the realities of living your happily ever after. Things are not magically easy just because two people find each other and fall in love.  The Professor and Mrs. Emerson face a lot and have their share of moments. Gabriel does some true soul searching that I was so worried would cause him to relapse into old habits. And Christa Peterson is still the ultimate bitch. But in the end, this book was a brilliant piece of literature and now that I have read it, I couldn’t imagine Julianne and Gabriel’s story without it. Well done, SR.

In Gabriel’s Inferno we are introduced to Gabriel as “an ASS”, however as the story unfolds we get to know a very troubled man that has lived his life without any “real” connection to anyone…..That is until he meets Julia, AGAIN!  Then in Gabriel’s Rapture we see the amazing love story come to a head when Gabriel “leaves” Julia and the struggle it took, as well as the growth he experienced in doing so.  The faith it took to reclaim their love was undeniably breathtaking and leads you right into Gabriel’s Redemption.

To say I was obsessed is an understatement.  As soon as I heard this book needed a review, I pushed all of my reservations about doing reviews to the side, just so I could have the chance to read this book.  I was not disappointed!  I love how Sylvain Reynard captures his characters and reels you into their lives.  The emotions that flowed through this book were not only captivating, but I feel honest and true.  At one point I actually put the book down and posted to the blog because I was convinced Gabriel was going to do something I wished the author would not do.  I was surprised when I picked it back up and realized he did not “go there” with that character and story line.  At that point, I had to finish this book like a madman!

I love how you are shown many characters throughout this book from the last two.  I love when the story line continues into the next book.  The characters you love and even those that you love to hate are there.  Then those extra little peaks into those lives that mean so much to your main characters.   I think for me the fact that Gabriel wants to become a father, was the best surprise I loved.  To see how far this character has grown is exciting and beautiful.  However, the obstacles he still faces, as well as Julia, is daunting.  One minute you are agreeing with Gabriel and the other you are siding with Julia.  The struggle internally for each character is beautifully written.  To say I’m ready for The Raven is an understatement!  Looking forward to the hinted at cameos from this series, check out Sylvain Reynard’s special announcement here!

I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

Clutch_TessOliver_v3Clutch by Tess Oliver

Released: 5th November 2013

Synopsis:

When Taylor Flinn’s parents shipped her off to an aunt for her last year of high school, James “Clutch” Mason had convinced himself it was for the best. Taylor, the wild, impulsive and far-too-appealing seventeen-year-old had been driving him nuts. Her school girl crush on him had been the last thing he needed. Now he had time to concentrate on his booming classic car part business, his new found love– drag racing, and keeping his twenty-year-old brother Barrett out of trouble.

But when Taylor returns from her aunt’s more grown up, utterly seductive, and attached to another guy, Clutch realizes that the only thing he ever needed or wanted was Taylor Flinn.

Teaser:

She came around the corner, unexpectedly and like a hurricane of stars. My mind went completely blank. I hung up and stuck the phone in my pocket.
Taylor’s long lashes curtained her smooth cheeks as she dropped her gaze.
The adrenaline rush left behind from getting my hands on a sixty-five Shelby morphed into an explosion of every emotion I’d ever felt. I lunged forward and grabbed her hand. She gasped as I dragged her around the back of the building. I pressed her up against the bricks and stared down at her.
